    Decide how the fragrance should be applied, how quickly it should announce itself, how closely it should sit, and which stage deserves emphasis. Make a small dilution series from the same concentrate, evaluate it blind, then rebalance the formula for the winning range.

    Safety limits apply to the finished product and may constrain how high a concentrate can be used. A higher dilution level for the fragrance compound raises every ingredient's finished-product concentration, so the safety calculation must be repeated.

    Changing concentration can change balance and diffusion, not just loudness. A controlled dilution series makes those differences easier to separate from formula changes.

    1. Use one stable concentrate that has already been checked for the intended product and select three defensible test concentrations.
    2. Calculate each small trial by mass and keep the carrier, total trial mass, containers, and maturation time identical.
    3. Code the samples so the evaluator does not know which concentration is which, then apply equal amounts to blotters.
    4. Compare opening, clarity, diffusion, transition, and drydown at the same time points before revealing the codes.

    What to record: calculation, actual weights, maturation period, blotter code, evaluation times, perceived reach, balance, and which concentration best answers the brief.
